Geospatial Caravan - “Building New India Leveraging Geospatial Technologies” - an event jointly coordinated by Geospatial Media and Communication in collaboration with Survey of India as Government Partner and Kerala State Spatial Data Infrastructure/ KSITM as state partner held on 17th February 2020@ Hotel Apollo Dimora, Thiruvananthapuram. The conference was inaugurated by Shri. Sivasankar IAS, Principal Secretary to Govt., Electronics & IT Department, Government of Kerala.
The aim is to help realize Vision New India. Geospatial Caravan shall travel to 10 states encouraging discussions between policy makers, the industry, the academia and the civil society on:
- Whole-of-Government approach to build and maintain the Geospatial Data Infrastructure, while leveraging the capabilities of the private sector
- Road map to Integrated Geospatial Infrastructure in the context of your state
- Brainstorming for ideas, challenges and solutions
- Understanding multi-sectoral needs and requirements
The conference discussed topics on implementation of Geo Spatial technologies in Infrastructure development, Urban & Rural Development, Land Administration, Tourism, Water Resources and Irrigation, Forestry and Wildlife, Environment, Survey & Mapping, Statistics, ICT, Academia & Research, Natural Resources, Disaster Mgmt. Senior officials and decision makers from various state departments and Govt. agencies attended the conference. It was also a knowledge enhancement session for Surveyors, Geologists, GIS managers.
